How does it work?
All New Deals start with
an interview with a New Deal Personal Adviser who supports you throughout
your time on the programme. During this interview your skills, experience
and job hopes are discussed. Any gaps in skills or knowledge are
identified and the New Deal Personal Adviser may suggest extra help
to get you ready for work, such as support to develop self confidence.
The New Deal Personal
Adviser helps you into work by tailoring the support available through
New Deal to your individual needs and circumstances. This support
can include subsidised employment, work experience with employers,
training and help with essential skills. Ask your Personal Adviser
to see the help which is available.

Eligibility
New Deal is a major element of the Government's Welfare to Work strategy. It gives unemployed people aged 18 to 24 and 25+ a real chance to develop their potential, gain skills and experience and find work. In addition, the New Deal for Lone Parents and the New Deal for Partners offers assistance to lone parents in receipt of Income Support and partners of Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) claimants (and partners of certain other benefit recipients) to find work.
New Deal is managed by the Department for Employment
and Learning and is delivered
through a series of Lead Providers in each District Council area
to local placement providers like ourselves.

Gateway
The first phase of New Deal,
the "Gateway", provides intensive help to get you into
work. This might include interview practice and help with job applications,
or short courses to improve work skills. During this period, you
will have access to a range of services and opportunities to help
to prepare for and find work. As people are encouraged to think
about what they want to do and are helped to prepare properly, employers
get recruits who are motivated and committed to the job.
