In 1960 Pope Paul asked that people in developed nations help the peoples of the Third World.
In response the Society in Northern Ireland set up a Twinning Scheme with Ghana in Africa and local Conferences here became 'twinned' with Ghanain Conferences.
The main objectives are to assist in a spiritual link through prayer, to exchange information and advice and to provide financial aid.
The Society in NI assists with the Centre of Hope in Accra which cares of destitute/sick elderly people, is involved in Youth work, AIDs patients, care of lepers burnt out of their homes, meetings with disabled youth and forging links with other agencies.
