City centre street collection raises over £9,000 for bursar scheme at Queens University in Belfast.
The Society wishes to extend its thanks to the citizens of Belfast who kindly contributed to our annual city centre Street Collection held on Saturday 10th December.
Over 100 Society volunteers, young and old, braved the elements throughout the day supported by members of Belfast Central Mission, young SDLP, and others. Collectors were also out at Boucher Road, Central Market, Forestside, Yorkgate and other shopping malls during the day, where buckets were introduced to maximise donations and visibility.
The proceeds from this year's collection will go to an innovative bursar scheme run by St Anthony's Conference QUB and aimed at helping students attending the university who require assistance with books and other materials.
