Almost 700 participants ran the 10km through Belfast's Titanic Quarter in the early April sunshine and the odd snow flurry. All competitors finished the course within an hour and twenty-five minutes, and although tired, most were re-energised by their efforts.

The Vincentian athletes will raise hundreds of pounds for their local St Vincent de Paul conferences within the North Belfast and Coleraine areas.

Well done to all for making the effort on a Sunday and congratulations to each and every one of you on crossing the finishing line!

Undeterred by the weather forecast, over 40 young Vincentians participated in the 2nd annual Titanic Quarter 10km race on Sunday 6th April 2008.

Two local schools, Dominican College Fortwilliam and Loreto College Coleraine, fielded runners in the harbourside race sponsored by Titanic Quarter and the Port of Belfast.

The event, which was held last year for the first time, is promoted as the "warm-up" to the Belfast City Marathon and is hailed as a fast training course for many international competitors.

It wasn't just students who competed from the schools present; a few teachers were spotted too, finishing with quite respectable times!!!

Ryan Butler from Dominican College completed the course in an amazing 47min 28sec not far behind Ethiopia's Ayele Mergessa who won the mens race at 31min and 7sec.
