The workshops were broken down into language groups. The discussions and opinions varied as much as the identities of those participating. The vital role of Twinning between rich and poor countries and the lifeline of financial, material and spiritual support clearly became a central topic amongst those delegates from poorer countries.

The overwhelming outcome was that those we serve "the poor", should always remain our main priority and focus. In addition to an International Youth Delegate, an International Youth Committee has was also appointed to preserve the ethos and commitment of our original youthful founders and their vision 175 years ago.

Northern Region represented at International Study Days for Young Vincentians in Spain between 4th and 8th June 2008.

The event was chosen as the best way to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the foundation of the Society in 1833 by 20 year old Frédéric Ozanam and his fellow students in nearby France.

78 delegates from around the world attended the three day study and Sarah Jane was part of a six strong Irish contingent which included International Vice President for Structures Brian O'Reilly, Catherine Behan and Denise Kelly (Vin Paz), Natasha Fitzpatrick (Trinity College Dublin) and Johnny Cosgrove (UCD).

During the visit, the group was treated to a guided tour of the beautiful city of Salamanca and also to Alba de Tormes for Mass (the resting place of St Teresa of Avilla, patron Saint of Spain).
