Bishop Noel Treanor

"I will be actively seeking to ensure that the disadvantaged, underprivileged and the marginalized are made to feel a part of the city during my year in office"

Recently installed public figures renew their commitment to work with others to help alleviate poverty.

The Society of St Vincent de Paul was represented at the installation of the new Bishop of Down and Connor Noel Treanor and at the celebration dinner for Belfast's new Lord Mayor Cllr Tom Hartley recently.

Both men spoke of their dedication in the pursuit of social justice and working on behalf of the most disadvantaged in our community.

SVP Regional President Cormac Wilson, who attended both events, warmly welcomed their renewed commitment as the voice of the poor.

Echoing their sentiments, Mr Wilson hoped that by working together we will all make greater strides towards the alleviation of poverty and suffering for the hundreds of families and individuals who approach the SVP every week for assistance.
