30
local Vincentians and friends from North Belfast took part
in a sponsored 10km walk to raise funds to send 10 young people
to assist the elderly and infirm on an upcoming pilgrimage
to Lourdes.
Every
summer the Down and Connor Diocese organises a pilgrimage
to Lourdes in France. This year the SVP hope
to provide places for 8 young people to accompany the entourage.
To
help raise money to fund their places, a 10km sponsored walk
was held from the Society's Regional Office on Belfast's lower
Antrim Road up to the steps of Belfast Zoo and back on Saturday
3rd June 2006.
In
July 2005 Marcella Walsh from the local Dominican College
Youth conference had the chance to travel to Lourdes to help
pilgrims from Down and Connor.

"Little
did I know of how I was to discover how many young people
return with a pure devotion to Our Lady, a firmly grounded
and renewed faith in God and confidence in themselves.
With
the knowledge of how in serving others, one serves God and
by loving others, one also loves God and through all of this;
God's constant reign of love is upon us"
