Speaking
on behalf of the Society Aileen Coney said..."Our
help to the poor and under-privileged takes many forms,
ie, cash assistance, food, clothing, furniture, holidays,
fuel to name a few. Last year over £68,000 was
spent in the Dungannon area alone.
We
have branches in Coalisland, Clonoe, Stewartstown,
Ballygawley, Moy, Clogher and Dungannon and our 90
members visit around 70 people every week.
To
many of those we visit, life does not hold much promise.
Many feel that they live in a period of uncertainty
and despair - a fragmented world of turmoil, confusion,
injustice and intolerance to others. We live in a
world of competition, aggression and dominating attitudes
where there is apparently 'no room' for the abandoned,
the disadvantaged and marginalized."

2006.
| It
was agreed at a recent council meeting to host a civic
reception for both charities who not only carry out
sterling work throughout the year but endeavour to make
Christmas a happier time for those less fortunate in
our society.
