160 years of service in Ireland

On May 30th this year we will celebrate 160 years of unbroken service to the poor and vulnerable in Ireland. To mark this event, members from all over Ireland are being invited to come together in the RDS Dublin on that date. It will be a day of thanksgiving, celebration, renewal and re-dedication with the theme 'You Make the Difference'.

Isn't it remarkable how we, as an organisation, can say that we witnessed the 'Great Hunger' of the 1840's and remained ever since a strong beacon of hope and support for poor and disadvantaged people. Today we are the largest social justice organisation in Ireland.

Sunday 30th May 2004 : 10:45am to 4:45pm : RDS Dublin

President Mary McAleese will officially launch the day's programme in the Main Hall at 11:00am. President-General of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, José Ramón Díaz-Torremocha, will be a special guest, together with Society Presidents from 13 African countries.

There will be a Memory Wall celebrating a visual history of the Society over many decades. National President, Brian O'Reilly will present the results of contributions for our 3 year plan 2004-2006. Cardinal Desmond Connell will celebrate Mass, accompanied by a 100 voice choir.
