Our latest figures show a truly appalling level of poverty here in Northern Ireland. During 2010 the Society of St Vincent de Paul spent a staggering £2.7m on helping people in need.

see latest annual report

We put great emphasis on 'self-help' and are very successful in this field. However, the need which we are frequently asked to ease is often desperate, and to be treated as an emergency, such as families with children and no money in the house, no food, and way of clothing their children.

We can only pay out what we get in, and the figures above are a direct tribute to the generosity of the people who provide the money for our essential work.
