We have 185 senior visitation
conferences throughout Northern Ireland in all the major
towns and cities. To request a visit simply call: 02890-351561
(If you would prefer to contact your local conference directly, you can do so in most parishes by approaching a member before, during or after any Mass (where a collection is held) or through your parish priest or by leaving a note in the SVP box at the back of the church.) Who can get help? People who come to the Society of St Vincent de Paul in genuine need, be it financial, practical or emotional, can be assured of our help. The response from the local conference will be that someone will come and visit you at home to discover in what way they can help you best.

The main aim of such visits is not to pry, but to discover your needs as fully as possible. Members will call quietly and anonymously and treat everything said in the strictest confidence. Conference members will carry a recognised ID card issued from Regional Office. Members do not gossip. Both our 'Rule' and our commitment to justice and sincerity precludes this.

Emergency AssistanceIn most cases, people will approach the SVP whenever a life crisis suddenly becomes too much to bear and after all other avenues have been exhausted.
- Food and clothing
- Cash assistance
- Furniture and electrical items
- Fuel (coal, gas, electric)
- Holidays and travel
If you have a bill you can't meet, if you are threatened with gas or electricity cut-off due to non-payment of bills, the Society may help. Often their first point of contact with a family is in just such an emergency. Sometimes the Society will help families pay off their most pressing debts, but the aim would be to try and assist them to manage their income rather than encourage dependence.
If the need is financial, there may be allowances or rights which you are not aware of. Members are knowledgeable about social welfare entitlements and often discover people who are not claiming eligible allowances, which could ease their situation greatly.
